Just a little
about us...
The Gaydio Academy helps Gaydio reflect the diversity of the audience we represent. It's a core building block in our mission to be the UK's LGBTQ+ station.
An education service
with purpose
We are an education service that is part of Gaydio to help you get your foot in the door in the radio and podcasting industry and will help find where your next steps are to achieve your dream career.
All activities at The Gaydio Academy are free. No experience is necessary. We're LGBTQ+ focused, not LGBTQ+ exclusive.
Learners can get involved at a number of locations around the country — conducting interviews, editing audio and video, or helping pull together content to be heard on air or online.
Meet the people
behind the Academy
Lee Barnes
After first getting involved at Gaydio Brighton, Lee now heads up the Academy across the country. With just under two decades as a presenter and staffer across the industry — if you turn your radio to Gaydio, it'll probably be him!
Steve Joyce
Steve's role is to raise the funds so that all Gaydio Academy's courses and projects are free to participants. He has over 30 years' fundraising experience across charities in cancer research, landmine clearance and adoption support.
